LiveArt in a Day
Washington, DC (March 3, 2014) On Saturday, April 5, local website We Love DC and collaborative theater company LiveArtDC will hold the first annual LiveArt in a Day. This event will feature the production of five 10-minute plays written overnight by local playwrights, devised the next day by local directors, and performed that evening by local actors. The theme for the plays will center on quintessential DC area landmarks, events and personalities, which will be crowd-sourced on social media in the weeks leading up to the event.
"With our commitment to creating collaboratively developed theatre, we thought what better way to raise money for our ongoing projects than a 24 hour play festival highlighting the huge talent pool in the DC area," said Heather Whitpan, co-founder of LiveArtDC. "Plus, we're thrilled to partner with We Love DC since they are such a great promoter of arts in the DC area."
"We Love DC's mission is to share our experiences of the city, so our involvement with LiveArtDC on this showcase of DC themes and DC arts is a great match," said Jenn Larsen, co-founder and editor-in-chief of We Love DC. "We're excited to move beyond our traditional coverage of the arts scene in DC to sponsor events such as LiveArt in a Day and help grow the creative community."
In addition to the plays, local bands and a silent auction will entertain guests before, in between and after the evening's performances. All proceeds of the evening will benefit the work of LiveArtDC. The details are as follows:

LiveArtDC (rhymes with "Give Art DC") is a Washington, DC based company of artists who believe in the power of collaboration to create engaging stories for the theatre. Comprised of writers, actors, directors, dramaturgs and other art lovers, LiveArtDC is focused on the process of story and character development. No play is guided by a production deadline. Since we do not have the constraints of seasons or spaces, we have the freedom to play and explore, and allow the work to emerge when it's ready. Our inaugural show I <3 Hummels was incubated over three years, premiered at the 2012 Capital Fringe Festival and was remounted last year in Washington, DC and Las Vegas, NV. Current projects include The Clara Bow Project, Causality, and coming this summer R+J Star-Cross'd Death Match at DC Reynolds.
