Snap on 2&4 w/ Bruce Dudley & the DPSW Quartet
Join us at the Jazz Cave Friday, March 28 at 8pm as the Snap on 2&4 series continues with the return of Bruce Dudley & the DPSW Quartet! This will be a show you don't want to miss.

The Quartet took the Jazz Cave by storm in their last appearance at November's Contemporary Jazz Series: patrons were thrilled by the Quartet's creative compositions and improvisations! The show was so good that we wanted everyone to have the chance to hear the group, and invited them back for a return visit.

Bruce Dudley is one of the city's most elegant and accomplished pianists and educators. He studied at the New England Conservatory of Music, Manhattan School of Music, and Eastman School of Music. He received a doctorate in Jazz Studies from the University of Colorado, and is on the faculty of Belmont University, MTSU, and the Nashville Jazz Workshop. An outstanding composer and arranger, his 1998 CD Semblance was nominated for Best Jazz Album of the Year in Nashville Music Awards. His recent CD's include Mostly Monk (2010) and The Solo Sessions (2012).

Derrek Phillips is also an outstanding artist/educator/composer. A Nashville resident since 2006, he was previously based in New York, where he worked with such jazz luminaries as Dr. Lonnie Smith, Charlie Hunter, Greg Osby, Christian McBride, and Joshua Redman. Since moving to Nashville, he has joined the faculty of Vanderbilt Blair School of Music and MTSU, leads his own group, the Derrek Phillips Manufactory, and is in-demand as a sideman.

Jesús Santandreu is a multitalented saxophonist who is a well-known composer in his native Valencia, Spain. He studied jazz at Berklee College of Music, and is in Middle Tennessee for two years while completing a graduate degree at MTSU.

Jonathan Wires is a frequent performer at the Jazz Workshop, and teaches at the Workshop's Summer Jazz Camp. Recognized for his skills as a bass player, Jonathan's outstancing compositional skills are less well-known but will be on display at this concert. Jonathan completed a Masters Degree in jazz studies at MTSU, and is currently on the faculty there, teaching jazz bass, composition, improvisation, and ensembles.
