Meet with visiting artist Ramin Bahrani (MAN PUSH CART, CHOP SHOP) and join a discussion about making truthful cinema. Ramin started his production company, Noruz Films, to make cinema with artistic independence as its mandate. His films feature stories that are set on a background that examines the dynamics of ethnicity in urban America. We invite you to bring short samples of your films and your ideas to discuss and learn how Ramin approaches filmmaking to raise issues about the outsider experience.

Ramin Bahrani received his BA from Columbia University in New York City before moving to his parents' homeland of Iran for three years. His first feature film, MAN PUSH CART (2005) premiered at the Venice Film Festival (2005) before being released theatrically world-wide to critical acclaim. Bahrani's second feature film CHOP SHOP (2007) premiered at The Cannes Film Festival. In spring of 2008, Ramin won the Someone To Watch award at the Independent Spirit Awards. His latest film, GOODBYE SOLO, won the FIPRESCI International Critics Prize at the 2008 Venice Film Festival and will be released nationwide this spring.
