Ray Lambiase and Michael Jerling
Ray Lambiase
Ray Lambiase has recently released his fifth full length CD, The Road Ahead, featuring eleven new songs that celebrate a range of Americana musical genres, and stories that will introduce listeners to a number of memorable characters.

He began writing and performing his own songs as a teenager on Long Island.

"The voice - unexpectedly rich, gentle, passionate and drly humorous at turns - is alternately laced with bits of grit and a haunting vibrato."                                                  Proctor Lippincott, New York TImes

After travelling the college coffeehouse circuit in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, he formed his first band and recorded Slow Dance Romeo/Who'll Run to You Now in the early 1980s.

The single received local radio airplay and led to publishing contracts with Nashville's Combine Music and Bob Dylan's Special Rider Music publishing arm.

'His finest song remains Slow Dance Romeo.  With its pliant, plaintive melody and wise yet touching lyrics, it has all the makings of a pop standard."                          Wayne Robins, Newsday

The follow-up EP Take Me To The Movies included six songs, and was released on Great Divide Records, a music cooperative formed by Jack Hardy during the early days of the Fast Folk Greenwich Village folk movement  whose members included Suzanne Vega, Shawn Colvin and Bill Morrissey.

"I can appreciate the time and effort and all that musical wizardry stuff [but] I like Take Me To The Movies because Ray Lambiase didn't fill his album with stuff; he filled it with music."                                                                                                       Richard Brancaccio, The Music Paper

His fourth CD, Kid Bayonne, debuted in December, 2018 at #7 on the Folk, featuring ten new original songs, anchored by a title cut suggesting that love is always worth fighting for.

The Ballad of Three Finger Brown, was released in August 2016, and featured eleven acoustic performances of new original material.  The CD charted at #12 on the national Folk DJ list that month, with two cuts finishing among the twenty most played tracks.  Despite the later release date, the title cut finished as the 55th most played song for all of the 2016.

"Sometimes, someone comes along that makes me remember why I so enjoy listening to music and doing this show."                                                                                             Trish Lewis, The Eclectic Chair

Twenty Lies and Other Stories, released in the fall of 2014, includes eleven original tales of love lost, love won, and the choices faced by a number of memorable characters.

The band features nationally recognized musicians Kenny Kosek (Jerry Garcia, James Taylor) on fiddle,  John Widgren (Martina McBride, Toby Keith) on pedal steel and Howard Emerson (Billy Joel, Eric Andersen) on guitar.

"One of the Ten Best CDs (Twenty Lies And Other Stories) of 2014."
                                               Dan Herman, Radio Crystal Blue

Time Leaves Things Behind, Ray's 2013 release, also includes eleven original songs - reunites long-time friends Mark Newman (John Oates, Sam Moore) and Kate Corrigan with original bandmates, Jim Uhl (bass), Cliff Hackford (drums) and Jack Gabis (lead guitar).

Ray lives with his wife on Long Island.

When I Build My Home (Take Me To The Movies) can also be heard on the Raquette RIver Rounders album R3.  Free Men (Take Me To The Movies) was recorded for Fast Folk by Doug Waterman.  Cedar Hill (Time Leaves Things Behind) was recorded by the indie-rock band King Penguin for Fruits de Mer Records.

Michael Jerling

Born and raised in Illinois, songwriter Michael Jerling became involved with music while helping to run the campus coffeehouse at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. Now settled in Saratoga Springs, New York, Michael has been a noted artist on the club, college and festival circuits of North America since 1975. His baritone voice is backed up with consummate skill on six & twelve string guitars, harmonica and mandolin, all buoyed by his dry sense of humor.

Michael was a winner of the prestigious "New Folk" competition at the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas, and his involvement with the seminal Fast Folk Musical Magazine in New York City led to his song Long Black Wall being included in the Smithsonian Folkways CD celebrating twenty years of Fast Folk.

2018 marked the release of his latest album, Family Recipe, featuring 12 new original songs on his own Fool's Hill Music label. Family Recipe reached #8 on the Folk DJ Chart. Halfway Home was released in 2014 and Music Here Tonight, recorded live at the legendary Caffè Lena in Saratoga Springs, NY, was released in 2009. Also on Fool's Hill are Crooked Path (2007) and Little Movies (2001). My Evil Twin (1992) and New Suit Of Clothes (1994) were released on the Shanachie label, and in 1997, In Another Life came out on the Portland, Oregon based Waterbug Records. Early Jerling (1998), also on Waterbug, is a digitally remastered compilation of selected cuts from his self released LPs On Top of Fool's Hill (1981), and Blue Heartland (1988).

Through all of these recordings and in his live performances, Michael displays his first-rate lyrical sense and impressive musicianship - borrowing from blues, rock, country and R&B. A keen student of the good and ghastly in American life, Michael weaves themes like a novelist, evoking our shortcomings and dreams without yielding to cynicism or sentimentality. Often praised as a "songwriter's songwriter" who composes in styles influenced by the wealth of American music, he has been characterized as an artist who performs his "extraordinary songs with the uncommon ability to deliver them to an audience with power and grace".

"Stronger than new rope... especially recommended to fans of Gorka, Greg Brown, Dave Alvin or any other real smart people who make real good music." - Icon, Iowa City

"He's got the literate humor and eclectic taste of Lyle Lovett...yet a skewed vision all his own." - Request Magazine

"I just really enjoy your music. And your humor. And your musicianship. There are a lot of topics that you sing about that NOBODY else is willing to tackle." - Phil Shapiro, WVBR's "Bound for Glory"
