Music in Manito
Artistic Director Zuill Bailey has designed a program to begin with Bahraini Oud Musician Isa Najem, winner of Best Original Music Score by the Los Angeles Cinematography Awards and the Canadian Cinematography Award for the film, Florence, a turning point in his career leading to his creating more original film music. Isa Najem holds international awards for oud performances and has studied cello with Zuill Bailey. Following the World Music opening is Vivaldi Four Seasons featuring violinist Helen Kim with a chamber group of musicians (Kelly Farris and Julia Salerno, violin; David Armstrong, viola, Isa Majem, cello, and Patrick McNally, double bass.) After intermission, the Judy Carmichael Jazz Trio will perform on the second part of the program. The Judy Carmichael Trio performs world-wide and the Grammy-nominated Judy Carmichael can be heard regularly on her National Public Radio show, Jazz Inspired.
