WINEspiration Night - ODE to PINA
White Raven Winery
Columbia Falls, MT
Partager cet événement :

Join us for our 6th WINEspiration Night at White Raven Winery, featuring five wines paired with five story-telling dance "chapters" inspired by the internationally revered visionary of Dance Theatre,  Pina Bausch. Choreographed and performed by Leslie Yancey, a dancer who has toured internationally and domestically for decades, alongside fellow dance enthusiast Chris Pola (who, in his youth,  studied at the Joffrey Ballet School), along with original music composed and performed by Lee Zimmerman. The piece is being developed to become part of an international documentary film showcasing the life, work, and influence of the late German-born boundary-pushing dancer, Pina Bausch and is a work in progress. *There will be an informative question and answer session following the performance with the artists.*

Note: Tickets are limited to these unique experience-based events, and thus they tend to sell out.

***Info on the Artists***
Leslie Yancey- Artistic Director of Yanceydance Theatre- Choreographer, Dancer & Teacher :
Leslie is a native New Yorker who now calls Montana home. Her work has been showcased at several prestigious venues across the United States, favorably reviewed by many publications, including The New York Times and The American Dance Guild. Leslie's considerable talent as a choreographer and dancer has made it possible for her to teach and perform in South Africa, France, Latin America, and Ireland. For the past decade, Leslie has shared her many talents with the people of the Flathead Valley in our public schools, theatre productions, and in her highly sought-after Afrofusion Dance classes! Yet, she is as talented as she is humble.

Chirs Pola - Software Engineer/ Dance Enthusiast :
For over two decades, Chris has been a Software Engineer/Consultant in high demand. Originally from North Queensland, Australia, his work took him to America, specifically NYC, and now Whitefish, MT. Regarding his involvement in this project, which came at Leslie's heartfelt request, he says, "I was always attracted to dance performance, the movement and exercise component of dance. Music I've heard is proof there is a God, and that combination of music and dance, well, it's inspired people for millennia, and I'm no different." Chris looks forward to sharing this piece with the guests of White Raven Winery.

Lee Zimmerman- Cellist - Music Composer : Lee is a beloved and well-known gem in this valley when it comes to his musical talent! A quote on his website defines him well: "The shortest distance from the head to the heart is through the cello: Montana's Lee Zimmerman takes audiences there and back again on the song of his five-string." Of this piece, Lee says, "This project allowed me to compose original music and collaborate with other artists - two things I try  never to pass up!"
