smARTfilms: SMOKE SIGNALS
BIMA smARTfilms series fosters community conversation through the merger of visual art, film, and narrative. After the screening, our host and guest(s) will initiate a discussion about the film and its art. All are welcome to participate in an open exchange of ideas during these post-film discussions.
SMOKE SIGNALS - Written & directed by Sherman Alexie, SMOKE SIGNALS is about contemporary Native American life and culture. Thomas and Victor (who are not particularly good friends) go on a road trip, invoking equal parts humor and humanity, while the film's colorful style and self-mocking tone is still fresh and invigorating. Editor Bryan Berdan in attendance. (1998 - 89 minutes - Rated PG-13)
The film will be followed by a hosted discussion about the film with John Ellis and Brian Berdan.
