Eli West
Its always illuminating to ask an artist how they understand music, but Eli Wests perspective is nothing short of ground-breaking. A trained designer, he sees music architecturally, visualizing his compositions spatially. Its a highly unusual way to think about music, tied to his verdant natural world of the Pacific Northwest. On his new album, Tapered Point of Stone, West lays out original songs and tunes like houses built by hand, weaving their melodies into the setting of acoustic roots music that first inspired him. Recorded in 2020, just before everything shut down, the album brings together Wests favored quartet of musicians: Andrew Marlin (Watchhouse) on mandolin and guitar, Christian Sedelmeyer (Jerry Douglas) on fiddle, himself on mandolin, guitar, and banjo, and Clint Mullican (Watchhouse) on bass. This is the third album this quartet has built, including solo albums for Marlin and Sedelmeyer, and at this point they operate on a near-magical wavelength. As both a noted arranger, songwriter, performer, and composer, West has been crafting a Northwest-centric roots music aesthetic through earlier collaborations with Cahalen Morrison and John Reischman, and recordings with Bill Frisell and Dori Freeman. Tapered Point of Stone showcases Wests collaborative nature.

Andrew Finn Magill and Dave Curley
For twenty years North Carolina-native violinist/fiddler Andrew Finn Magill has been pursuing parallel careers in traditional Irish music, Brazilian choro, jazz and American fiddle. Magill learned from the best fiddlers in the world at The Swannanoa Gathering and is a Fulbright fellow, North Carolina Arts Council Fellow, and Ropeadope Recording artist. He has been featured on MTV, Avianca in-flight entertainment and multiple times on NPR's The Thistle & Shamrock. His 2016 album Roots (featuring Cillian Vallely of Lúnasa and John Doyle) debuted at number #46 on the folk DJ charts and since then he has toured internationally and headlined several Irish festivals. He has performed with everyone from grammy-nominees John Doyle and Trio Brasileiro to Rising Appalachia.

Dave Curley is one of Ireland's leading multi-instrumentalists, vocalists and a champion step dancer. Hailing from Co. Galway on the west coast of Ireland, Curley has brought his wealth of talents to the largest of stages in North America and Western Europe. He has performed at the prestigious Ryman auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee, recorded with Grammy award winners Ron Block, Jeff Taylor and Buddy Greene, and toured with Grammy award winners Moya Brennan of Clannad and Ross Holmes of Mumford and Sons. For 10 years, Curley has worked with the award winning traditional super group, SLIDE, headlining North America's largest Irish festivals. In addition to touring with Magill, Curley tours with The Crannua Collective, One for the Foxes, Ashley Davis, Paddy Homan's The Noble Call, and as a guest with many other musicians.
