This documentary film tells the remarkable story of the 1970 Farmer High School Baseball Team, that made it to the playoffs and what happened in the first game of the state championship became legendary. The film is not just about the Farmer team---the team they played against in the finals, Robersonville High School, are an integral part of the story as well. The film is narrated by Dan Lauria, who played the father on THE WONDER YEARS and played the part of Vince LOMBARDI in the Broadway show of the same name. The film features over 60 interviews--players, coaches, fans, and sportswriters --all actual 16mm and Super 8 film of the team in 1970, and hundreds of historical photos and news articles.
This film is the first in a series of films I am producing on North Carolina High School Athletics, the 2nd film, TWO IN 72, is currently in production.
There will be two shows on August 7th, Saturday, one at 4 PM and one at 7 PM.
This version of the film features many changes from the Sunset Theatre Premiere showing in 2019. Numerous photos and video clips have been added, the audio and the graphics have been enhanced---this will be the Film Festival version of the film.
At both showings there will be introductions of some of the players and participants in the film.
Enjoy
