SALUTE TO HOLLYWOOD POST 43 & YOU'LL NEVER GET RICH

Co-Presented by the American Cinematheque & the Art Deco Society Los Angeles

The American Legion was founded in 1919 to offer comaraderie and solace to war veterans. That same year, Hollywood's Post 43 was formed. The building on Highland Avenue was built in 1928 with proceeds from a boxing venue run by the veterans! Come tour Post 43 and its museum to learn about its storied history - which has been closely tied to Hollywood celebrity for nearly a century. Photos of Sid Grauman himself are among the memorabilia on display in the museum!

Following the 1:00 PM tour and museum visit is a 3:30 PM screening of the patriotic wartime musical YOU'LL NEVER GET RICH starring Rita Hayworth and Fred Astaire, with songs by Cole Porter - at the Egyptian Theatre!

Doors open at 12 noon. Enter the building and take the elevator down one floor upon arrival. You will check in at the door under your name. The Art Deco bar at Hollywood Post 43 will be open from noon until the end of the event if you would like to purchase alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages.

Parking is available at Post 43. The facility is ADA compliant. Parking is also available across the street at the Hollywood Heritage Museum. The Hollywood & Highland Red Line is a short walk north on Highland or park at the Egyptian and walk.

This event begins at American Legion Post 43 and ends at the Egyptian Theatre. No tickets will be sold onsite at Post 43. You must purchase a ticket in advance at the Egyptian Theatre box office or online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/507221 (the box office opens at 2:30 PM on Nov. 23.

Please bring your membership card if you are a member of the American Cinematheque, Art Deco Society or Hollywood Heritage.
