Choral Arts Society 2009 Winter Concert: "Embracing All"
Maya, the celebrated instrumental trio, will join us in a program of rhythmic, vibrant and soulful music from around the world. This includes: "Missa Luba", an improvised Congolese setting of the Catholic Mass for chorus and tenor soloist with percussion, "Embracing All", a complex and melodically appealing collection of meditative texts celebrating life, diversity, and humanity, and "The Shepherds", a beautiful setting of the Christmas story by John Ness Beck, in a style that blends jazz harmonies with the sounds of flute, harp, and 'a cappella' choir.
