Fundraising From Individuals Workshop
Fundraising From Individuals will help you determine whether and how to start raising money from individual contributors, who account for more than 75% of all the money given to non-profits in America. The topics covered include: working with a non-profit sponsor; forming an advisory board; preparing the right materials for the right donors; taking advantage of new technology; how to put the language and methodology of organizations to work for you as an individual artist; and how to work with and around venues and galleries. Drawing from roundtable discussions, research on best practices in the field, and artists' on-the-ground experience, this workshop incorporates a step-by-step overview of the topic, partner exercises and discussion. Handouts include a timeline for benefit events, information on how to conduct letter and e-mail fundraising drives, and a list of questions to answer before you start to ask for donations.
This workshop will be lead by playwright, performer and educator Aaron Landsman and Daniel Alexander Jones, an interdisciplinary theater artists and Creative Capital grantee.
The workshop is open only to artists attending the NPN meeting. Please rsvp by November 25.
