"OH GOD!" by Anat Gov, presented by Jewish Theatre of Oklahoma
Jewish Theatre of Oklahoma presents its first production!
OH GOD! by Israeli playwright, Anat Gov, translated from Hebrew by Anthony Berris and Margaret Rodgers.
G-d goes to therapy! When a conflicted and depressed G-d seeks out an earthly therapist to aid him in his wrenching doubt, it is not always clear who is providing therapy to whom. Ella, a 42 year old therapist with issues of her own, and a severely disabled son, has but one therapy session to convince G-d not to give up on his creation. Seems the almighty stranger has given up on the world, with "issues" dating back thousands of years. And how do you help a "being" with no parents to blame? OH GOD is a probing, funny and deeply moving work by a beloved Israeli playwright.
The Staged Reading will be followed by complimentary kosher refreshments for the audience. Then, audience members will be invited to participate in a discussion of the play's ideas and themes.
The production stars Debra Rich Gettleman, a delightful professional actress who has just transplanted from the west coast to Oklahoma, after starring in a number of productions in Seattle, Phoenix, and many other cities. She just performed in a one-woman show, "Every Brilliant Thing" to rave reviews, and...
Hal Kohlman, a well-known and highly sought after professional actor who just played Friar Lawrence in Oklahoma Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet." Hal has a long string of superb acting performances enjoyed by Oklahoma Audiences and lauded by dozens upon dozens of outstanding reviews. Hal teaches at OCU School of Theatre.
There will be three performances of OH GOD!, so tickets are limited. Performances take place at Oklahoma Shakespeare on Paseo: 2920 Paseo, Oklahoma City, OK. 73103
