The UL Lafayette Opera Theatre and the UL Lafayette Wind Ensemble will present The Scarecrow, an American contemporary opera composed by Joseph Turrin with libretto by Bernard Stambler.
The Scarecrow is based on the final short story by Nathaniel Hawthorne and is a moralized legend about humanity. The 70 minute opera is scored for Wind Ensemble with a cast of 12 UL Lafayette students. Shawn Roy will direct the opera and William Hochkeppel will conduct the Wind Ensemble. The production will take place in the Ducrest-Gilfry auditorium at Angelle Hall on the UL Lafayette campus on April 3 and 4 at 7:30PM and April 5 at 3:00PM.
Tickets are available at the door or can be purchased online at bit.ly/ULOpera2020. $15 for general public $5 for UL Lafayette alumni and senior citizens Free for UL Lafayette students, faculty and staff.
