CHAVA ROSENFARB (1923-2011) was one of the most prominent Yiddish novelists of the 20th century. Born in Poland, she survived the Lodz ghetto, Auschwitz, and Bergen-Belsen, immigrating to Canada in 1950 and settling in Montreal. Translated and edited by her daughter Goldie Morgentaler, the book is a compilation of the memoir and diary excerpts that formed the basis of Rosenfarbs widely acclaimed fiction and her experiences as a survivor in the post-Holocaust world.
GOLDIE MORGENTALER is a Canadian Yiddish-to-English literary translator and a professor of English literature at the University of Lethbridge, Alberta.
