Keltic Reign & Lore (Saturday Matinee)

Keltic Reign:

Its a New Years tradition now! Shake off the tinsel and cobwebs from the holidays with this fun night of Celtic music! Band leader, Mitzi MacDonald, originally from Nova Scotia, will be here with her family her three adult children Andrew, Holly and Ashby, who are her band mates, as well as Randy Getz, with his grand style of song, Michael Levine on guitar, and Marc Waters on drums. A St. Louis favorite, they have played everywhere from Irish and Scottish festivals to the Whitaker Music Festival at the Botanical Gardens, and everything in between! They play songs from Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Scotland and Ireland, and always a couple that Mitzi wrote. Keltic Reign has recorded three albums, and Mitzi has another five of her original material. They have also become known for their show they have every year at the Sheldon called Christmas in the Kitchen, which is quite literally a Nova Scotia kitchen party on stage at the Sheldon, serving up tea and cookies and great music. Fifteen years in the running, they have raised tens of thousands of dollars for local childrens charities. KR started up back in the year 2000. The kids literally cut their teeth on this music, from the time they were babies trying to chew on the instrument cables! Now Mitzis grandson, Andrews baby, is doing the same thing! Theirs is a house filled with music, and Friday, Jan 3rd it will fill our house! Come join the house party!

Lore:

Comprised of Griffin Reed (concertina), Holly Laws (fiddle), and Ashby Laws (piano and piano accordion), Lore has been playing together since they were children as former students of St. Louis Irish Arts, just down the street from the Focal Point. All three have competed at the All Ireland championship for Irish Music, and were members of the St. Louis Groupai Cheoil that placed 3rd in the world in 2013. As Lore, they enjoy blending traditional Irish music with contemporary arrangements to create a new sound.

They are excited to make their debut at the Focal Point! (Holly and Ashby are the daughters of Mitzi, and both are members of Keltic Reign)
