Alexa Wiley & Dan Haley and Switchback with special guest Dale Jones A Benefit for Artichoke
Alexa Wiley is a lyrical philosopher who writes acoustic music to back her poetry. Her songs are a mix of poetry, jazz, world beat, country, rock, and folk. Alexa has opened for and played with an outrageous range of fellow musicians, from legendary American folk icon Michael Hurley to brilliant Oregon artists such as Lincoln Crockett, fisher poet David Densmore, and local Portland favorites such as Dan Haley.

Dan Haley has been a fixture in the Portland East Side Sound scene since he formed Ed & The Boats in the 80s. After stints in Germany and Vermont, Dan has returned to Portland where he is still an indispensable sideman to local legends like Billy Kennedy, Lynn Conover and Tim Acott when he isn't playing his own brand of "fab-rustic art-pop."

Together Alexa & Dan perform a mix of originals and old time covers in a unique blend of styles that compliments their joint poetic musicality.
Switchback started in the fall of 2018. Two singer-songwriters met in 2013 at a songwriting class at Artichoke Music. Individually, Andy and Sean played out at an open mic at Corkscrew Wine Bar in Sellwood for several years leading up to hanging out and jamming from time to time. Sean joined the existing band Rip City Ramblers (Andy, Kyle, and Jon) last year and they together formed Switchback.
Switchback performs original songs written by Andy and Sean about real life, love, travels, trains, and struggles. Sounds range from slow jams, bluesy grooves, to upbeat rockin tunes. You never know what is coming next with the bands mix of influences. Covers range from the Grateful Dead to Johnny Cash. Special guest Dale Jones joins the band for this performance.
