David Burchfield, Sydney Clapp, and Barry Osborne w/ poet Wayne Gilbert by candlelight
Hey folks! We're very excited to present our candlelit evening of music and poetry in the BEAUTIFUL chapel at the First Unitarian Society of Denver. It will be a really special evening and we'd love for you to join us!

DAVID BURCHFIELD
David Burchfield writes American folk music thats not content to stay within traditional genre boundaries. Taking cues from Josh Ritter and Joe Pug, Burchfields literate lyrics meet emotive grace in nods to Gillian Welch, Mandolin Orange, and David Ramirez. There is a powerful candor in Burchfields writing  raw, emotive, and rich with details that bring the listener right into the scene of his passion. Solo, Burchfield performs with a surprising ferocity and emotional delivery that has silenced even the rowdiest of rooms. Critics have called his 5-piece band, David Burchfield & the Fire Guild, akin to the Band meets the Stray Birds  equal parts all out rock n roll party and sensitively arranged balladry. Burchfield has played the Middle of the Map Fest, Boulevardia, was featured in the Chevy Music Showcase, and has shared bills with Noah Gundersen, David Ramirez, and Joe Pug.

SYDNEY CLAPP
Sydney Clapp is a gripping, dynamic songwriter based out of Denver, Colorado. Sydneys songwriting is simultaneously devastating and hopeful. In the midst of isolation and deep processing of both the joys and sorrows of this world, Sydney sought vulnerability, healing and connection of our shared human experience through her music. Potentially warranting a box of tissues, Sydneys experimental folk music invites you to connect with your deepest emotions. Rhythmic and melancholy yet visceral and uplifting, Sydneys debut EP, Cradled By Sound is set to release in 2019.

BARRY OSBORNE
Denver singer-songwriter Barry Osborne plays post punk old time banjo. He released his debut EP Back of the Title Page  in 2018. In their review, Marquee Magazine wrote "With the same whimsical irreverence of John Hartford, Denvers Barry Osborne takes the old-time clawhammer sound and blends it with his influences of early 1980s college rock."

In addition to writing songs and playing out in Denver and along Colorado's Front Range. in 2019 Barry developed his song cycle, What A Fool Might Suggest, enlisting a band to give his musical and storytelling vision greater depth and resonance.

On October 3, 2019 he debuted the song cycle with Olivia Shaw (of Avenhart) on fiddle, Niki Tredinnick (of The Dollhouse Thieves) on vocals and multiple instruments, and Yoni Fine on guitar to a full house in Quinlan Cafe at Swallow Hill Music. The band hopes to keep performing regularly and record the song cycle in 2020.

Whether solo or with a band, Barry leans into his clawhammer banjo playing to deliver humor and hard truths - often in the same song - to audiences.

Barry played Denver's Underground Music Showcase in both 2018 and 2019. In 2019 he was nominated for a Westword Music Award in the Folk/Bluegrass category.
