Susan Cattaneo & The Big Loud Band with special guest Julie Rhodes
Susan Cattaneo & The Big Loud Band

Susan Cattaneo is one of Bostons most respected songwriters and a 2019 and 2018 Nominee for Best Americana Act of the Year at the Boston Music Awards. A powerful singer and sophisticated writer, Susan combines vivid storytelling with a modern songwriters spin. Susan blends rock, folk and blues with a healthy dose of country. Call it New England Americana with a twang.  Her latest album The Hammer and The Heart charted #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and yielded a #1 song on folk radio and a top 10 album of 2017.

The Big Loud Band assembles some of Boston's best musicians: Jamie Walker on electric guitar and vocals, Michael Bean on pedal steel, lap steel, dobro, guitar and vocals, Renee Dupuis on keyboards and vocals, Richard Gates on bass and Andrew Jones on drums.

She has also been a Falcon Ridge Emerging Artist and a finalist at some of the country's most prestigious songwriting and music contests, including the Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk, the Independent Music Awards, the Philadelphia Songwriters Project. Susan also won the CT Folk Grassy Hill Songwriting Competition and won the Director's Choice Award at the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest.

Julie Rhodes

Over the past few years Julie Rhodes has established herself as one of Boston's leading blues and Americana artists. Her incendiary performances have captured audiences all over New England. Her debut album showcased her considerable songwriting skill, and was met with critical praise across the country.

Her success has been reflected by her constant presence at the Boston Music Awards. After winning for Americana Artist, Blues Artist and Vocalist in 2017, she is again nominated in all 3 categories in 2019.

Critical praise for Julie Rhodes

The arrival of a significant new Americana/blues talent.
- Pop Matters

There arent many unknown artists who get to record their debut albums partially at Muscle Shoals Fame Studios with legends such as keyboardist Spooner Oldham, guitarist Greg Leisz and fiddler Sara Watkins sitting in. But, there arent many new singers as impressive as Julie Rhodes either.
- American Songwriter

Part of 'Bound to Meet the Devil's' charms come from the production and the players, but Rhodes' songwriting completes the spell. Her songs seem to rise from the ghosts of '50s blues and '60s soul greats."
- Boston Herald

On the cusp of a meteoric rise in the songwriter community, Julie Rhodes is a powerhouse vocalist with authentic soul, grounded both in the songwriting traditions of yesterdays Americana and todays very present social and political issues.
- Howl Magazine

"Sometimes you hear a voice and you immediately sit up and take notice. Thats what happened when I first listened to Julie Rhodes, her vocals big, soulful and growling through the speakers in a dark powerhouse sass that suits her Americana sound perfectly..."
- For the Country Record

"The ease with which she soulfully sings us through her heartbreak, and subsequent anger, is exceptional. The blend of country, soul, blues, and folk is effortless on this record. Rhodes uncompromising vocals, paired along with the sharp lyricism, leave me shattered in the best possible way."
- Play Too Much
