Stand Up (Comedy) For World Dance and Culture
This comedy benefit is an opportunity to support diversity in artistic expression and a way to laugh FOR dance, NOT AT people dancing.
Tannery World Dance and Cultural Center hosts artists from around the world providing a platform, net working opportunity, and cross community connection. Their Diaspora Project offers professional development and operational support to 5 select artists each year: provides grant writing guidance, performance opportunities, rehearsal and class space, at no cost to artists of the diaspora, many of whom have immigrated from Africa.
As home to a number of cultural dance groups - hula, salsa, tango, belly dance, Haitian, Congolese TWDCC provides space for a diversity of cultural expression through dance. TWDCC produces Ebb and Flow, World Arts Festival, and Winter Dance Fest - for emerging and professional choreographers from Santa Cruz and the Bay Area.
With Bay Area Comedians: Vic Dubin, Darlene Bereznicki, Janette Marin, Terry Dorsey, Alyssa Westerlund, and Frankie Marcos.
