Vintage Washington
Join the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation for Vintage Washington, a splendid evening of wine tasting in the truly beautiful setting of Seattle's Stimson-Green Mansion. This festive event celebrating the preservation of Washington's unique historic places and featuring Washington State wines will take place on Thursday, September 26, from 5:30-8:30pm.

Vintage Washington 2013 boasts wineries from across the state and features Sparkman Cellars, aMaurice Cellars, Forgeron Cellars and Mosquito Fleet Winery. In addition to fabulous tastings, guests will also enjoy an array of small plates specially crafted to complement the wine selection, experience live music, and have the opportunity to spend an evening in one of Seattle's most stunning historic mansions.

The Wineries:

Sparkman Cellars: Inspired by the birth of their daughters Stella Mae and Ruby Leigh, Chris and Kelly Sparkman chose a life focused on family. (And wine!) Having the support from  enduring relationships with the Pacific Northwest's finest growers and winemakers, as well as their families, in 2004 they started their wonderful winery in Woodinville. Sparkman Cellars produces highly sought after artisan handcrafted, award-winning wines, and in addition to making some of the finest wines, the Sparkmans consistently contribute to the community and to causes that resonate with their family. Chris's dad, Frank Sparkman, is an award-winning preservation architect in Tennessee.

àMaurice Cellars: Owned and operated by the Schafer Family, fifth generation Washingtonians, àMaurice Cellars practices and advances sustainable viticulture principles, while creating extraordinary wines. The winery, located in Walla Walla, is named in honor of Maurice Schafer, an esteemed Pacifc Northwest timber baron and father of general manager Tom Schafer, as well as grandfather of winemaker Anna Schafer. Along with Joshua Green long-time owner of the Stimson-Green Mansion, Maurice also started the Washington Athletic Club in Seattle.

Forgeron Cellars: Discover unique wines inspired by founding wine maker and managing partner Marie-Eve Gilla's French heritage! "Forgeron" is the French word for blacksmith a nod to the location of Forgeron's winery/tasting room was founded in 2001 on the former site of a blacksmith shop. In French, the word "Forgeron" refers to artisans who build with their hands combining experience with an extensive knowledge of their trade. This is the vision that Marie-Eve Gilla brings, crafting complex, food-friendly wines from vineyards chosen for maturity and flavor profile. Forgeron Cellars production is limited (around 5000 cases/year), allowing Marie-Eve to focus on quality by keeping each lot separate and allowing full expression of the wine's potential.

Mosquito Fleet Winery: For years owners, Brian and Jacquie Peterson, and Jacy and Scott Griffin, dreamed of opening a boutique winery and decided to follow their calling in 2009 by founding Mosquito Fleet Winery. Celebrating the heritage of Puget Sound, they named their winery for the fleet of steamers that used to transport people and freight across the sound. Mosquito Fleet is a family affair which requires all hands are on deck, kids included. The families work together to produce passionately and patiently hand-crafted quality wines.

Tickets are $75. Proceeds from the event support the programs of the Trust, including the Valerie Sivinski Washington Preserves Fund, the Discover Washington: Youth Heritage Project, and the Most Endangered Historic Properties List.

Parking is available in the Trust's parking garage behind the Mansion on a first come-first served basis. Street parking is also available. All tickets are will call.
