ANINO, the Philippines premiere shadowplay collective, unveils it's latest creation "Florante at Laura" a free adaptation of the classic metric-romance by Francisco Balagtas.

While preserving and utilizing Balagtas' own words in some parts, the shadowplay makes the classic work more accessible by injecting, in other parts, modern language, visuals, humour and contemporary music.

"The dialogue is crisp, the narrative is post-modernish and yet discursively refreshing!  A must-see for those who want Balagtas' works to be consumed perppered with a McDonaldish gravy of excitement!  What a joy ride!"

The ANINO Shadow Play Collective, established in 1992,is a group of multi-media artists dedicated to popularizing the art of shadowplay. Towards this end ANINO undertakes live performances, exhibitions, video, publication, and workshops.  Its founders and founding members belonged to the Philippine High School for the Arts community.  However, in 1996, ANINO ceased to be school-based and became an independent company. Since then the collective has been composed of college students and art practitioners.  ANINO's productions treat political, social and environmental issues; Philippine history and social as well as cultural life; and Philippine folklore, legends and literature.
