LATIN JAZZ @ MONDO: An Evening With THE OSCAR FELDMAN QUARTET
The in-demand Oscar Feldman Quartet comes to the popular LATIN JAZZ @ MONDO concert series on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 8:00 pm. Argentinean saxophonist Oscar Feldman is joined by pianist Lou Rainone, bassist Boris Koslov, and drummer Diego Lopez along with special guest percussionist Raphael Cruz.
The venue is located at MONDO, 426 Springfield Avenue in downtown Summit, NJ. The audience is surrounded by inspiring fine art at this intimate and cozy venue as they enjoy a concert experience with the best of Latin jazz artists from NYC and beyond.
Oscar Feldman is an Argentinean saxophonist and composer based in New York City. He studied at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston where he graduated cum laude in 1995 with a Professional Music degree. Known for his splendid tonalities and melodically outstanding charts, the Argentinean native demonstrates his superb skills on alto, tenor and soprano saxes, while employing a wide range of Pan-American references, from straight ahead to tango to candombe to samba to mambo. Oscar has recorded and toured internationally with notable artists such as guitar legend Al Di Meola, Grammy winner and top producer/arranger Eumir Deodato, Jeff Tain Watts, Avantango, Paquito D'Rivera's United Nations Orchestra, Alex Acuna at prestigious venues such as the Vienna Opera House, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Town Hall in New York City, Park La Villette in Paris, the Blue Note in NYC as well as many International Jazz Festivals in Europe, the Americas and Africa.
In 1999 Oscar recorded on the album "Tropicana Nights" with a big band conducted by Paquito D'Rivera which received the Latin Grammy Award 2000 for "Best Latin Jazz Album". His debut album "El Angel" also received rave reviews and features guest appearances by Gato Barbieri, Claudio Roditti, Alex Acuña and Paquito D'Rivera.
For his album Oscar e Familia, featuring an all-star band and an all-star support team - Feldman enlisted drummer Antonio Sanchez (Pat Metheny Group, Chick Corea), upcoming pianist Manuel Valera, bassist John Benitez and percussionist Pernell Saturnino for his core group and with special guests Mark Turner, Diego Urcola, Pablo Aslan & Cuartetango, and Argentinean pop star Luis Alberto Spinetta. His latest adventurous GOL album has received rave reviews from fans and music critics alike.
He recorded for the soundtrack of Ang Lee's new movie "Lust, Caution". Oscar has toured Europe with Fusion Revolution together with Alex Acuna , Tom Kennedy and Otmaro Ruiz.
Oscar has also toured in Spain with Bebo Valdes and His All Star Latin Jazz Band and most recently he performed in Greece with his own band featuring Horacio Negro Hernandez.
In 2011 Oscar also joined the Caribbean Jazz Project led by Grammy award vibraphonist Dave Samuels, touring in Europe and Japan.
