The USS Hornet Ghost Hunt Sleepover Event
*This is a sleepover event, you will be sleeping aboard this haunted Aircraft Carrier*

The USS Hornet is not simply a highly decorated aircraft carrier that bravely forged the worlds oceans for 30 years.  It is still home to many who have passed beyond the veil who linger behind to tell the stories of days long gone.  As featured on SYFYs Ghost Hunters and the Travel Channels Ghost Adventures, the USS Hornet is a number one destination for paranormal investigators seeking the secrets within her hull.

With any aircraft carrier that has seen its day in battle, death is not a stranger.  The same is true for the USS Hornet.  Death and suicide left their impression upon her decks which many believe is the reason that so many spirits are still lurking in the shadows.

Shadow figures have been seen in the ready rooms.  A man dressed in a blue uniform was seen walking through the bulkhead.  Mattresses and other objects move of their own volition in the sick bay.  A man wearing a dress white uniform has been spotted in several areas of the ship.  Lights turn on and off, photographic evidence of uniformed men tied to a chair that no one saw with the naked eye, cries for help and disembodied conversations have been heard by visitors, hatches slamming shut, footstepsThe USS Hornet is a hotbed for paranormal activity that should not be missed!

The only real question iswhat will you do when you come face to face with an Officer wearing his dress whites?!

Dinner:
Chicken Fajita's, Rice, House Vegetables and Salad

Breakfast: Breakfast Burrito and Bagels

Location History:

The USS Hornet (CV-12) is a United States Naval aircraft carrier that was originally christened the USS Kearsarge in August of 1942 but was renamed in honor of the USS Hornet (CV-8) that was lost in October of 1492.  She was commissioned in 1943 and soon joined the battle of the Pacific Theater.  Throughout her career she took part in World War II, Operation Magic Carpet (returning troops to the U.S. following the end of the war), the Vietnam War and also the Apollo Program in recovering the astronauts of Apollo 11 and 12 after their return from the moon.

Her lengthy and renowned career earned the USS Hornet 9 Battle Stars for Pacific Service and a Presidential Unit Citation.  The aircraft carrier quickly maneuvered throughout the worlds oceans and covered over 155,000 miles.  Her aircraft shot down 668 Japanese Planes, destroyed 742 on the ground, sank 73 ships and damaged 413.

Following WWII, the USS Hornet was decommissioned on January 15, 1947 at Hunters Point, San Francisco, but her days as a star of battle were not over.  In 1951 she was recommissioned and renovated to reflect the improvements in aircraft carrier technology and received the new designation of CVA as an attack carrier.

Not all of her heroism was reflected in battle.  In 1954, a British Commercial Airliner was shot down by the Chinese La-7 Fins fighters and the USS Hornet took part in the search recovering several survivors.  Her crewmembers also helped fight the famous Hollywood Hills fire in 1961 and after the fire devastated the Los Angeles, the diesel generators from the ship were used to feed electricity into the Southern California power grid.

The USS Hornet was decommissioned after her long and brave service in 1970 and now has reopened as a museum in Almeada, California.  With all the men and women who have walked her decks facing terrifying situations, there is no doubt that there has been left a lasting imprint within her hull.  The stories that have been shared about experiences, the evidence gathered of spirits still lingering behind and the experience of visitors and guests have led many to believe that the USS Hornet is one of the most haunted aircraft carriers in the world.

Are you as brave as the USS Hornets former residents?  Will you be able to wander in the dark, seeking the stories of the men and women that are still lurking in the shadows?
