Urbano's Circus and the Monster of Garbage
Bankrupt and homeless Urbano and Vincenzo wait for the Principessa to save their trash constructed puppet circus and protect them from the Monster of Garbage. A trash-constructed puppet circus created by Richard Grunn.
Inspired by Alexander Calders Circus of Wire, you will be amazed and entertained by these hilarious trash-constructed puppets as they perform their death- defying and suspenseful acts. The inter-active show features Ivan the Iron-Clad Stomach, Clyde the Fearless Clown ,and Boris the Elastic Acrobat. In the story Urbano and Vincenzo are bankrupt, destitute, and homeless living in world full of excessive garbage. They wait for great patron of the arts, Principessa di Lamborghini, who they believe will help them get back on their feet and restore the circus to its former glory. While waiting they are tormented by Il Monstro della Spassatura, or the monster of garbage, and have to decide whether to fight back or become consumed by the garbage monster as it grows in size.
Performed in Italian and English by the father and son duo of Richard Grunn(Urbano Urbani) and Dylan Grunn (Vincenzo Pompeii). Directed by David Zarko. Unique family entertainment.

Bios:
David Zarko was producing artistic director of Electric Theatre Company in Scranton, PA from 2001 to 2011. He was also founding artistic director of The Metropolitan Playhouse of New York (1991 - 2000), now on East Fourth Street, and was previously artistic director of Parsifal's Players and The Fabulous Theatre Co., both in California. During his nineteen years in New York City, he worked as director and instructor at American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and Long Island University C.W. Post Campus. In addition, he has over 90 professional directing credits and at least 50 in academic theatre. He is also a produced playwright, an actor, is a member of The Dramatists Guild and Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, and holds a BFA in Dramatic Production from the University of Arizona, Tucson. As a playwright, he has written, translated, and adapted about twenty scripts, about half of which have been produced in the U.S. He is currently on a self-styled (and open-ended) writer's retreat in Orvieto, Italy. His most recent play, "Colloquia", was presented in two productions, English and Italian, in June 2019 at Teatro Carmine in Orvieto. A complete resume and CV can be found at www.davidzarko.us
Richard Grunn is an actor, artist, puppeteer, and teaching artist, who has performed and toured original shows at many festivals in the U.S., Ireland and the U. K. including the West Cork Literary Festival, Schull Arts Festival, Arundel Festival, and The Edinburgh Fringe. Some of his original shows that he performs on a regular basis include: "Urbanos Circus"- a trash-constructed puppet circus, his solo show, "Father Joiners Purgative Poetry Project"- a poetry reading of several winsome, yet unlikely poets, and "Dr. Braman and the Science of the Mind"-where phrenology meets electricity- meets positive vibrational output. He received a 2015 BRIO award for experimental film from the Bronx Council on the Arts, and in 2003 was awarded the prestigious Pennsylvania Council of the Arts Fellowship in Theatre. Mr. Grunn is a teaching artist for Sundog Theatre where he designed a theatre-based literacy program, 3-D Literacy, which services elementary and middle school students in the NYC schools. He has taught radio theater to visually impaired students at the Lighthouse Guild, and seniors for the past four years. He has been a SU-CASA recipient from 2015-2019. www.richardgrunn.com
Dylan Grunn is an alumnus of Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA and currently studying at HB Studio in the West Village. For the last couple of years, he has performed with his father and brother in "Urbanos Circus" (2017), a conception based in commedia dellarte. Aside from theater, Dylan is a multi-instrument musician and neuroscience enthusiast. His most recent stage credit was as Dennis in "The Weekend Will End" (2018) at Shetler Studios - Theater 54. Past films include: "Left Hand" (2018), "McGuffin" (2017), "All Raccoons Are Bandits" (2015). Currently, he is in the process of finishing the feature film "Lake Artifact", released in 2018.
