ZIGUE - (pronounced "zeeg") Partners in music and marriage for more than 25 years, Québec native Claude Méthé (fiddle, vocals) and transplanted New Englander Dana Whittle (guitar, foot percussion, vocals) have lived, breathed, performed, created, taught and shared their music across Canada, the US and overseas. Both of them dynamic singers and prolific composers, they are members in good standing of Québecs living musical tradition. Claudes raw, emotional singing and authentic fiddling is seamlessly matched by Danas rhythmic chops, tasty guitar and sparkling vocals. Together, they deliver rootsy originals, archival gems and the kind of magic generated by musicians whose kids napped onstage in guitar cases. They have been recognized for their artistic ability and commitment to passing along their musical heritage (they are the parents of fiddler/singer Béatrix Méthé of Les Poules à Colin). Get ready for reels, jigs, complaintes, chansons à répondre, foot percussion and tales of life from their rural home deep in the bellybutton of the Québec trad universe! Available for concerts, workshops and dances (with caller).

Fiddler-singer-composer Claude Méthé is one of the founders of legendary Québec trad band Le Rêve du Diable who received a Medal of honour from the National Assembly for preserving and promoting Québec traditional music; he also received last years Porteur de tradition award from the Goderich Festival in Ontario. In the past year we have toured in the US with Cajun fiddler David Greely and much of the fall was spent touring in France. In addition to a lifetime of being a folk-trad musician, Dana is also the founder of Folquébec, the province's first and only folk music organization dedicated to introducing international audiences to folk (including trad) music made in Québec.
