Blast Off 2019 with Undiscovered Countries
Friday June 7th, come welcome some new pieces into the world at the culminating showing of Undiscovered Countries' 2019 Blast Off Development Lab!

Opening reception featuring Anna Hart Turner's art and festive snacks, 7 PM
Performances start at 7:30
Tickets: $15 (includes charming and festive snacks, as well as a whole lotta good good art)

Undiscovered Countries is a Brooklyn-based incubator of new and developing interdisciplinary art. Our Blast Off development lab features 5 artists of different perspectives and disciplines, each developing a large scale new work through biweekly meetings over the course of four months. We're incredibly proud to present the 2019 Lab, and to share their pieces with you! Come see:

Rebecca Vineyard's Vigilantes, a comic, and a Western, about the brave individuals who fight tirelessly for justice both in and outside the confines of the law and who aren't afraid to fuck shit up in the process.

Ania Upstill's "Queering clown", an investigation into how the theatrical form of clown can be used to explore the experience and performance of queerness.

Anna Hart Turner's "Caught Up", a series of mixed media hand-embroidered artwork that incorporates nets from bottles and produce to explore ideas of consumption, wastefulness and the environment.

Anna Lublina's " | BAb(oo)shka"; In Russian and English, Anya and Babushka struggle to communicate their Jewish identities via The Sims. Their histories emerge as a patchwork of puppetry, klezmer music, and dance.

Slats Toole's Who Do You Say That I Am?", a "multimedia liturgical extravaganza"* diving into Biblical stories of people like Cain, Job, and Jephthah's daughter through poetic monologue and seeks to wrestle with the actions of God that are strange, unfair, and even horrifying. What do we do when it seems that God needs to be redeemed?
