SCMF Wild Mushroom Foray

Clear your calendars for the fourth annual Santa Cruz Mycoflora Foray. We will again gather at the Mission Springs Conference Center in Scotts Valley, CA. Plan to spend an engaging weekend in the beautiful coastal mixed forests collecting and identifying fungi, participating in lectures and workshops, enjoying the company of fellow fungiphiles.

Your participation will support the Santa Cruz Mycoflora Project, part of the North American Mycoflora Project. This event continues the work started locally by Christian Schwarz and Noah Siegel, providing ongoing data and funding for our local mycoflora research. We are all working towards a single goal the development of the first comprehensive mycoflora of North America. This foray will identify and document the fungal flora of Santa Cruz county. The project draws on a consortium of citizen scientists and professional mycologists performing a biological survey of all the macrofungi that occur in North America. We'll be using citizen science tools like iNaturalist to pair with our specimens (eventually headed for the UC Santa Cruz fungal herbarium). Every year, new species are added to the Santa Cruz County mycoflora, and participants in this event will no doubt find mushrooms that we've never documented in this area.

Registration

ON-SITE OR OFF-SITE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED in order to register for workshops.

On-site registration is $330-$355, depending on lodging options (it includes lodging Thursday-Saturday night, meals from Thursday dinner through Sunday lunch, and all foray fees).

Off-site price is $225 (includes meals from Thursday dinner through Sunday lunch, and all foray fees). This foray has sold out the previous years, so make sure to register early!

Some smaller capacity workshops (both microscopy sessions and watercolor field illustration) entail a $20 registration fee to ensure your spot.
