Scott Damgaard returns to the warmth of the Lizard Lounge after celebrating the release of his sixth solo album, Hidin' Out On Titan, here at The Lizard Lounge back on February 9th. Look for singer songwriter rock and Americana with touches of folk thrown in. In addition to the performance by Scott Damgaard and his band, the evening will also feature a set by the dynamic performer Chris Mascara. Whether as singer, actor, mo-cap artist, or multi-instrumentalist, Chris is always a "force of nature" in his own right or the "secret weapon" on many a project, sharing stages with Alejandro Escovedo, Tony Visconti, Gordon Gano, Amanda Palmer.
Scott Damgaards songwriting is prolific, and he draws on and reflects so many influences it is hard to imagine how he can keep it all whirring in his head. His new album, Hidin Out On Titan, weaves together the threads masterfully. What emerges is an eclectic collection of songs that feel as if they have been pulled down from a heavenly cloud of the classic rock stratosphere of the 1960s and 70s all with an incredible and contagious energy. There are Beatles-esque layers, and all the songs on his sixth album feature shrewd lyrics and playful twists. It reaffirms and celebrates not only Scotts lyrical genius, but everything we love about music.
Whether its the clever whimsy of She Left Me For A Robot (She brought her new machine home from the laboratory/I was shocked to see just how much it looked like me Am I living in a Twilight Zone?/Whatever happened to flesh and bone?) and Wanna Be Your Frankenstein, or the Celtic-flavored modern lament Nobody Understands Nothin No More (Commentators, pundits and paid talking heads tear each other down no matter whats said), Damgaard strikes a chord with each tune.
Boston is lucky that this Milwaukee transplant decided to set down his musical roots here. Hidin Out On Titan is so deep and bright, it may be hard to keep it under wraps on that largest moon of Saturn. In fact, at this rate Scott Damgaard may soon be doing rings around Titan.
Chris Mascara, who starred in Jesus Christ Superstar's title role alongside Gary Cherone (Extreme/Van Halen), is most widely known as the mo-cap artist for the lead singer avatar in music games Rock Band I & II.
His rock vehicle Mascara toured the Northeast in support of indie-radio-charting releases, Cellar Door, Spell, and Fountain of Tears, which all received critical accolades as well.

The death of Chris's dad to dementia spurred a introspective period and upheaval which yielded a potent artistic reboot. His new material continues to demonstrate his life-long devotion to exploration, songcraft, and literate themes.
Take Lou Reed, mix Jeff Buckley, with a good dash of Roberto Benigni, and you start to get the picture.
