Awaken Dance Theater 5th Anniversary Gala

Awaken Dance Theater returns to Ailey Studio Theater to celebrate our fifth year as a New York City contemporary dance company focused on social justice. Our program will include multiple premieres and pieces from our extensive repertoire as well as a screening of our new dance film, Mother Earth, all choreographed by Artistic Director, Rebekka Nodhturft. This year we are also presenting two new works by guest choreographers and company dancers Sydney Keir and Charles E. Scheland.

This year is an exciting year of firsts for Awaken Dance Theater. In addition to our first time having TWO company member guest choreographers, this will also be our first year involving multi-media through dance film AND our first ever piece en pointe! We would love for you to join us for this exciting performance.

The program features our ever fun "Date Night" and last year's "Society's Psyche." We will also be premiering two new sections expanding on "Women's Clock," our work on female social, pressures, and of course, all of our other exciting premieres.
