The Art of the Process, Phase Two - Making a Feature Film: Someone Will Assist You Shortly
PHASE TWO: PROGRESS REPORT & PRE-FILMING CONVERSATION WITH THE CREATIVE TEAM

SUNDAY, MAY 19 | 3 PM | FREE

Join us for phase two of the new series The Art of the Process as we will follow the making of the feature film SOMEONE WILL ASSIST YOU SHORTLY by Los Angeles screenwriter Jon Levenson, which is set to be filmed in Hampton Bays in August/September 2019.

The panel will include Jon Levenson along with Producer David Wiese and Cineatographer Meg Kettell.

Since a reading with the actors last summer, we have continued to follow Jon and his team along the way with programs relating to various pertinent phases of the film making process, culminating with a public launch party screening of the final product!

About Someone Will Assist You Shortly

Taking place in Hampton Bays, the story centers around Eli (Nick Westrate), a gay hospice nurse who returns home to care for his dying father, Kenneth. Eli is forced to crawl back into the closet to make things work with his racist and homophobic father who blames his kids for the death of his wife.

SOMEONE WILL ASSIST YOU SHORTLY launched Southampton Art Centers new program series The Art of the Process where the audience has the opportunity to follow the creative process of a project from start to finish, in this case checking in with special programs related to the progress of the making of this film.

This screenplay is the culmination of a lifetime of thinking about family and the role it plays in how we become who we are. We live with certain beliefs about what we deserve. So many of these are based on where we come from and the hand we were dealt. But at some point, its constructive to ditch that hand. Maybe hold onto the most important card and build a new set of better beliefs. said screenwriter Jon Levenson. I am thrilled to share this never before seen story with the community of Southampton and grateful to the wildly talented actors who are so generously sharing their time to help make this film happen.

As of April 6 the cast of Someone Will Assist You Shortly includes Nick Westrate (Eli Shields), Emma Myles (Rox Shields), Javier Muñoz (Matt Alvarez), Michelle Wilson (Ray Storer), and Justice Quiroz (Toby Shields).

ABOUT THE SCREENWRITER/DIRECTOR

Actor-turned-writer/director, Jon Levenson was in the 40th Anniversary Revival of The Boys in the Band (off-Broadway) and was Joe Mantello's standby for The Normal Heart. Hes been living in LA for several years working his way through the ranks with several scripts to his name (Mas Guns, The Silence, At a Loss). Previously, he worked with Academy Award nominee, Dana Adam Shapiro (Daughters of the Sexual Revolution: The Untold Story of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders) and Gregory Stern at The Treat Shop (Legend of Cambria). When the Navy took his brother-in-law overseas, Levenson came home to do some hardcore uncle-ing. It was during this time he fell for writing. He received his first M.F.A. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and his second in Screenwriting at University of California, Riverside. Levenson and his husband, Stephen Boyett, are the Executive Producers of wordking LLC.
