    Sunday April 28, 2019.      2:00p - 3:00p

Threads and Shadows is a collaborative experiment; a deconstructed, site-specific, dance mash-up of two existing works created by two artists of different cultural backgrounds, working in separate cities, exploring similar themes but in distinct ways. Alexandra Warrens Slaying Ghosts and Sarah Councils A History of Dirt will be teased apart, opened up and then woven back together as layered parts of one diverse whole. As the work unfolds at Petras in Plaza Midwood, the audience will be invited to travel with the performers as the dance emerges throughout the space.

Charlotte-based, Sarah Council creates emotionally driven dances that are multi-layered and expressive. Her newest piece, A History of Dirt, considers how the past affects the present and investigates the body as a keeper of histories. Alexandra Warren is a Greensboro based dance maker. Her contemporary dance works center around topics that explore social justice and artistic activism. Her work Slaying Ghosts, explores breaking cycles and disrupting the stigma of getting help during an emotional or psychological crisis.

Threads and Shadows will feature original music by Ronald Keith Parks, Mike Wall, and Nicholas Rich. Threads and Shadows will include performances by Jenn Jones, Emmanuel Malette, Milanda McGinnis, Claire Nagy-Kato, Hannah Nichols, Dylan Reddish, Amanda Rentschler and Samantha Salvato

Alexandra Joye Warren is the Founding Artistic Director of JOYEMOVEMENT, dance company.
