Arc School of Ballet Biennial Showcase Performance of Winnie's Woods
On June 1 Arc School of Ballet (ASB) showcases more than 125 of its students in its year-end performance of Winnies Woods. The dancers range in age from three years old to pre-professional, young adults with special guest appearances by the professional dancers of ARC Dance Company. Audiences of all ages will enjoy this two-act performance at the Shorewood Performing Arts Center in Shorewood High School.

Winnies Woods is based on the original A. A. Milne story, Winnie-The-Pooh, and has been adapted to the stage by ARC Artistic Director, Marie Chong. The student dancers will enjoy performing in this entertaining, original production with choreography by Ms. Chong. She intertwines her dance choreography with fun music and characters that highlight the maturity and skill progression of the students.

The biennial, year-end showcase offers all students of Arc School of Ballet another performance experience in addition to the annual Nutcracker Sweets. Ms. Chong carefully crafts the roles of each dancer within the story. The student performers receive an education in the creation of a ballet: rehearsal focus and etiquette, time management, familiarity with different job roles such as costumers and ballet masters, and the sheer time involved to bring a production to performance. ASB students relish the opportunity to be part of the creation of an original story ballet and the performances inspire their dance training and heighten their appreciation for dance as an art form. Please join us as we celebrate our fifteenth year of turning out dancers.

Arc School of Ballet (ASB) provides personalized ballet training in an atmosphere that promotes personal and artistic growth. Focusing on elements of both classical and contemporary ballet technique from the classic French, Italian, and Russian Schools of training, the core curriculum at Arc School of Ballet (ASB) provides dancers with a broad knowledge of classical technique and the comprehension to adapt to all current ballet styles and techniques.

Arc School of Ballet opened its doors in July 2004. The school provides individual attention to students through limited class sizes. It focuses on classical ballet and offers a professional dance career preparation program. Its training regimen is consistent with the stylistic requirements of ARC Dance Company, the resident professional dance company.

Since 2004, Arc School of Ballet has educated over 1600 dancers who are ongoing dance ambassadors, working with and supporting professional performing companies beyond their time at ARC.
