Small Business Lunch at Halls
The King Street Marketing Group and Halls Chophouse are pleased to present the President of The Citadel, Lt. General John W. Rosa USAF (Ret), as the guest speaker at the upcoming Small Business Lunch at Halls, Thursday July 11.

The tremendous importance of The Citadel on local business can be felt every day. Virtually every small business in greater Charleston is impacted almost on a daily basis by political and business leaders that are graduates of The Citadel.

Princeton Review ranked The Citadel MBA program among the best business schools in the country and, for the second straight year, U.S. News & World Report ranked The Citadel No. 1 among the top public universities in the South that offer a full range of undergraduate and master's degree programs.

Gen. Rosa will address the need for principled leadership in today's business world and share highlights of The Citadel's contributions and the college's strategic initiatives to impact the lowcountry and the nation with innovative new college programs including Homeland Security, Intelligence Analysis and Cyber Security.

Lt General Rosa is the 19th president of The Citadel and his presidency has been marked by a keen focus on strategic initiatives to enhance The Citadel's mission of developing principled leaders. His concern for keeping a Citadel education relevant in the 21st century while holding to the values that make the college unique has strengthened the college in significant ways. Since Rosa became president, The Citadel has increased the size of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets and completed a $100 million capital campaign -- two benchmarks of a vibrant institution.

In 1969, he was recruited to play football at The Citadel and was the starting Bulldog quarterback in 1970 and went on to earn three varsity letters in football. He graduated from The Citadel in 1973 with a degree in business administration and was awarded a commission in the Air Force.

A command fighter pilot with more than 3,600 flying hours, Rosa enjoyed an illustrious 32-year career in the Air Force.  He has commanded at squadron, group and wing levels at air bases in South Korea, Idaho, South Carolina, New Mexico and Georgia. He served as inspector general for Pacific Air Forces at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii and commandant of The Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama.

As deputy director for operations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington, D.C., he was in charge of the National Military Command Center and served as the military spokesman for the Pentagon when U.S. troops were deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq in 2002. In July 2003, he was named superintendent of the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., and in September of that year, he was promoted to lieutenant general. He remained in that position until his retirement from active duty in November 2005.

Each month Small Business Lunch at Halls features a distinguished speaker from the business, civic or political arenas upstairs at Halls Chophouse with an imaginative three-course meal prepared by Executive Chef Matthew Niessner.

Tickets are $28 per person for the luncheon and parking. Doors open at 11:30 AM and lunch is served promptly at noon. Limited seating of 60 participants provides an intimate experience with each speaker.

Halls Chophouse is located at 434 King Street in downtown Charleston. Parking, validated at the event, is available at the Visitors Center Garage on Ann Street between King and Meeting Streets.
