Whiskey Business - High West

High West Distillery was founded in 2006 by David Perkins and his wife, Jane. David, a former biochemist, was inspired to open his own distillery after seeing the parallels between the fermentation and distilling process and his own work in biochemistry during a trip to the Makers Mark Distillery in Loretto, Kentucky. In 2004, David and his family relocated to Park City, Utah to begin their new venture, where they began distilling in 2007. High Wests products have received numerousaccolades and awards. In 2016, Whiskey Advocate named High West its distillery of the year.

Local Three is home to one of the largest and most diverse whiskey collections in the Southeast featuring more than 250 whiskies. Join us as we crack open our cellar for a monthly guided tasting series. Sample whiskies from around the world and talk whiskey business with our Whiskey Dude, Randy Whisnant.

Each tasting includes a whiskey cocktail, a flight featuring three 1-ounce pours and light snacks from the kitchen. Sessions are limited to 12 seats per tasting to allow for more intimate group discussion and feature beginner and intermediate level experiences.

Our tastings offer one-on-one time with our whiskey sommelier for an introduction into the discovery of palate preferences and guidance in distinguishing variations between styles.
