David Cale: "FRESH" with Matthew Dean Marsh on Piano and Vocals. Presented by TWEED.
This show is part of "Sundays @ Seven", a series presented by TWEED Theater Works, Kevin Malony artistic director.

FRESH will feature a new monologue with songs and musical underscoring, "My Name is Susan". Susan is the story of a married woman who's out of town trysts, every time she goes away on business, have her fearing her sexual impulses are out of her control. Along with Susan will be a set of original songs performed by David Cale with his musical collaborator Matthew Dean Marsh on piano.

David Cale is the writer and performer of solo shows including the Obie winning "Lillian" (Playwrights Horizons), "A Likely Story" (The New Group), "Deep in a Dream of You" (The Public Theater, Bessie Award). Most recently he wrote the solo play "Harry Clarke", starring Billy Crudup (Vineyard Theatre/Audible, Minetta Lane Theatre, 2018 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Solo Show) and wrote the book, lyrics, and co-composed the music with Matthew Dean Marsh for "We're Only Alive for A Short Amount of Time" which recently premiered on the Main Stage of the Goodman Theatre and will open this summer at The Public Theater.

"David Cale is an enthralling writer-performer."
- Stephen Holden, The New York Times

"David Cale is more than a spellbinding story-teller.  He is a guide to the crashing rivers inside peoples hearts, minds and souls.  He gives words to previously unarticulated thoughts, feelings, gestures."
- Nancy Churnin, The Los Angeles Times

"Of all the solo performers, no-one enthralls quite like David Cale."
- Steven Winn, San Francisco Chronicle
