EPAD workshop - 'The Producer Spectrum', Tuesday 5 March 2019, 10am to 1pm
Edinburgh Performing Arts Development (EPAD) is a capacity-building project, supported by Capital Theatres and the City of Edinburgh Council. We act as a facilitator and connector, enabling Edinburgh's independent performing artists and producers to share in the knowledge, experience and facilities within the city's wider cultural infrastructure.

We are delighted to be hosting an interactive morning workshop with Chris Grady exploring what Chris calls 'the Producer Spectrum.'

This half day session introduces you to the producer spectrum,  exploring the many different roles that we may play under the guise of theatre-maker, producer and arts manager. This workshop is designed for producers at all stages in their career, self-producing artists, those who might relish having support from a producer, and those who employ or engage people with the producing skills to make things happen.

"Why call someone a creative producer?" Come along and find out.

"They never used to need producers in my day?" Come along and explore what this new breed of creatives do.

"I can't afford a producer, I have to do it all myself?" Come along and explore how you to value and develop your self-producing skills, or maybe offload some tasks, in time, which you'd rather not be doing.

"I'm too busy to take 3 hours away from my work". Maybe that's the best reason to take 3  hours away from the desk and meet others on the producer spectrum...

This practical workshop will explore the idea of the producer spectrum and help you identify your place on it.  It will leave you with some tools to support you to move along the spectrum with well-being and balance.  The course is for you whether you are juggling a freelance portfolio or are employed by an arts organisation.

The session is facilitated by Chris Grady, a creative producing coach and juggler of many projects as a portfolio solo practitioner. Previously creator and head of the MA in Creative Producing at Mountview Academy of Theatre in London, he is now settled in Blackness developing new projects in UK and Internationally around creative and producer training (UK, China, Korea, Malaysia, Japan) whilst still running the London based Producers Pool.

The training will take place on Tuesday 5th March at The French Institute on George IV Bridge, from 10am to 1pm.

The French Institute is an accessible venue.

We are able to make a contribution of £25 to support those with costs as a carer who wish to attend the event.  If there is anything else we can do to support your attendance, please let us know with your booking.

Our programme is based on the needs of Edinburgh's independent performing arts sector and due to the nature of our funding, it is only available to those who live in Edinburgh.
