February Snohomish & North King County NWF Habitat Stewards Training
February IS YOUR CHANCE TO BECOME A HABITAT STEWARD!
The National Wildlife Federation is offering a specialized multi-course training to teach you how to help others create and restore wildlife habitat in backyards, schoolyards, and other private and public areas. This program is engaging, fun and highly informative and you get to meet and interact with local conservation professionals and other similarly interested folks!
Benefits include: an NWF volunteer t-shirt, hands-on training, engaging field trips, a comprehensive training manual with local resources, instruction from local professionals, and continued support from NWF staff.
A variety of topics will be presented on habitat restoration, PNW ecology, natural yard care, invasive plants, native plants, & much more! Presenters will be announced soon!
Classes will be held over a period of 2 weeks on Tuesday (2/19 from 5:20pm-8pm), Thursday (2/21 from 5:20pm-8pm), Monday (2/25 from 5:20pm-8pm) and Thursday (2/28 from 5:20pm-8pm) at the Mountlake Terrace Library (23300 58th Ave W, Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043). Field trip sessions will include admission to the NW Flower and Garden Show (on a day of your preference) and a tour of the Washington Park Arboretum on Saturday (3/2) from 9am-1pm.
*Scholarships are available! No one will be turned down to lack of funds. Email WAEducation@nwf.org for more information.
**A 30-hour volunteer commitment within a year after the training is required. We will provide coffee, tea, and light snacks at each training session and you are welcome to bring a brown bag dinner. Local food businesses occasionally provide donations and we will inform participants ahead of time in this case.
If you would prefer to pay using a check, please email WAEducation@nwf.org to register! See you in November!
