Charles Duke: Learning Love
Award-winning singer/songwriter Charles Duke makes his debut at Pangea for an intimate evening February 13th at 7 PM.

Charles Duke's concert "Learning Love" is an intimate experience exploring the varied and unique facets of love in celebration of the Valentines season. Come experience the magic of music with Charles and his talented friends in his debut concert at Pangea.  

Since arriving in New York City, Charles Duke has performed throughout Manhattan including on leading composers of the Great American Songbooks pianos. From Duke Ellingtons white piano at Cathedral of St. John The Divine to Cole Porters mahogany painted piano at the Waldorf Astoria, each moment has demonstrated the universality of love and music to lift culture and create community. Having received an ASCAP songwriting award from Motown legend Valerie Simpson, he now presents his collection of songs Learning Love in concert with friends.

Charles Duke will be joined by award-winning friends, vocalists ranging from soul and jazz to classical and Broadway, for a night sure to lift your spirits and make you believe in the power of love.

Charles Duke is an award-winning singer-songwriter, classically trained pianist, composer, arranger, and music director. As a solo artist, he has released four EPs and is currently working on his first album. Inspired by songwriters ranging from Cole Porter to Ashford & Simpson, his music and compositions fuse jazz, soul, pop, and classical music elements and his songwriting is influenced by the human experience.

In 2016, Charles was awarded the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) "Reach Out And Touch" Award for his songwriting skills. In addition to his own body of work as a solo artist, he has written and composed songs for other artists, television projects, and films, including MSNBCs Melissa Harris-Perry. His recent theme song for the award-winning short film "New York'd" can be heard on Amazon Prime.

Charles has performed in the Off-Broadway production of Sleep No More and the New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU) annual Broadway Stands Up for Freedom benefit concert. He has also performed as Music Director for Queen's Central Library's Culture Connection celebrated concert series and the National Alliance for Musical Theater Festival. Charles has held residencies at the Waldorf Astoria, Innside by Melia, Robert Restaurant, the Plaza Hotel, and other locations throughout Manhattan. In addition to private events and galas, Charles has also performed at prestigious venues in New York City including Lincoln Center.

His new debut album The Orchid Room is now available on all major digital platforms. It is a sensual and intimate conversation about love and relationships.

Charles is a native of Atlanta, GA, who graduated from the University of Miami and studied at the Frost School of Music. He currently resides in Harlem, NY.
