Dan Blakeslee & the Calabash Club at Portsmouth Book & Bar

Dan Blakeslee and the Calabash Club are a New England based folk outfit. If you're familiar with the Portsmouth seacoast area you've probably been lucky enough to be exposed to his talents either as a solo artist or with a band. Come on down to Portsmouth Book & Bar to catch these guys in an intimate and unique venue.

With a suitcase of songs, Maine folk troubadour Dan Blakeslee ventured into the subways of Boston in 1995 to practice his craft. He has been making music and art throughout New England ever since, leading him to tour the U.S. performing with The Low Anthem, David Wax Museum, The Lumineers, Liam Finn, Brown Bird, Joe Fletcher, Jonah Tolchin, Will Dailey, Death Vessel and Kimya Dawson. Dan is unafraid to bare his very soul on stage, emptying a loaded cache of emotion and passion onto the stage for all to witness, explore and devour. There is a feeling of antiquity to the songs, which are written in a poetic language that could have been taken from Walt Whitmans Leaves of Grass (Boston Globe).

Blakeslee has five albums under his belt including his most recent Tatnic Tales released May 10, 2011 (Peapod Recordings) which features his band The Calabash Club, Mike Effenberger (Piano), Nick Phaneuf (bass) and Jim Rudolf (drums).
