With long experience on their respective instruments in their home countries, Ann Kirrane, Gerry Hanley and Kyle Alden met last fall in California, where the trio headlined at the Irish Music Festival in Fairfax, CA. They had so much fun, and fortified by an appreciative audience response, they made plans to continue playing and performing together in the US and in Ireland.  Ann's lovely voice and lilting concertina, Gerry's driving button accordion and Kyle's rhythmic guitar stylings create a musical blend of great power, range and nuance.

Musician Bios:
Ann Kirrane comes from Bellharbour, Co.Clare, and a long musical tradition. Her father, Chris Droney, is one of the most respected concertina players in Ireland. Ann learned concertina from her father, and grandfather Jim, and won the All-Ireland Fleadh Ceóil three times. Her teenage summers were spent in Lisdoonvarna playing music with her father Chris, Tommy Peoples, Kitty Linnane and Paddy Mullins of the Kilfenora Céili Band. Ann moved to Tuam and it was there she began to sing, taking leading roles in stage productions with local musical societies. It was in Tuam also, that Ann met and married Noël Kirrane, a musician, teacher, choirmaster and musical director who devoted his life to the promotion of music in young and old. Her new CD 'One Small Star', dedicated to the memory of Noel, has received rave reviews for its mix of songs--gospel, traditional, Irish ballads, jazz standards--blended with exceptional concertina playing.

California born singer/songwriter/guitarist and folk musician Kyle Alden's third full-length CD-- Songs From Yeats' Bee-Loud Gladea collection of thirteen songs inspired by poems of the great Irish poet W. B. Yeats, has received world-wide radio airplay and rave reviews, and was on three "Best of 2011" lists among folk music DJs and critics in the U.S. As the 2012 grand prize winner of the Y-Tunes Song Contest for his setting of Yeats' poem "Those Images", Kyle has been invited to perform at the Hawks Well Theater in Sligo, Ireland in August 2013.  Last fall he accompanied Ann and Gerry at the 2012 Fairfax Feis (Fairfax, CA), where they headlined on the festival main stage. Fluent on guitar, fiddle and mandolin, Kyle has performed on stages and at house concerts throughout California, Colorado, the Pacific Northwest and Ireland.

Gerry Hanley hails from Galway and has played Irish traditional accordion from an early age, winning the all Ireland championship at age 21. In 1980 he played in 17 cities in US/Canada as part of the CCE cultural tour group. Gerry met and played with many of  the greats of the '70s including Joe Cooley and he was a regular on the Galway trad scene in the '80s/90s before his career as an engineer took him to Sligo where he has lived for the past ten years. He now travels extensively and relishes the opportunity to meet musicians from all over the world to exchange tunes and stories. Gerry is back in the recording studio and a new album is expected in the fall of 2013.
