Sarah White with Sid Kingsley
"Homegrown folk music with a dash of country twang and just enough rock and roll bite."- Rolling Stone
All of the tracks on High Flyer are classic Sarah White: Theyre smart, earthy, honest songs, full of heartbreak that cuts sharp through glittering wit, all a reminder that White is, as she always has been, the coolest gal around. - C-Ville
"Gorgeous, catchy and ultimately moving songs..." "Sarah's music kills me; beautifully from the ground up,- Ryan Muldoon, Richmond-Times Dispatch no plastic." - Dave Matthews
A chameleon-like performer with ever changing lineups over the last decade, Sarah White has grown into a talented songwriter with a sizable body of poignant, catchy, and moving songs, perfectly ripe for the taking. A staple in the Virginia music scene, White has performed with the likes of Merle Haggard, Justin Townes Earle, Earl Scruggs, Will Oldham, and the Dave Matthews Band Caravan. She was once named Best Songwriter in her hometown of Charlottesville, and recently took home the winning prize at the Ashland Coffee & Tea Songwriter Shootout. Her forthcoming album High Flyer features eleven of Whites songs tracked with a slew of seasoned players including Daniel Clarke (k.d. lang, Ryan Adams) on piano and keys, Charles Arthur (Slaid Cleaves) on guitars, and Stewart Myers (Agents of Good Roots), who also produced the album, on bass. Special guests include Dave Matthews (who sings with White on Sweetheart); Carter Gravatt (guitars) of Carbon Leaf; and Carl Anderson and Austin and Michael York of Sleepwalkers on vocals. Backed by a full band including pedal steel, keyboards, and guitars, she is ready to leave her mark with a bigger, brighter and accomplished sound on High Flyer, available August 3, 2018.
"Armed with a towering voice, clear message, and expansive tone, Kingsley has put together an incredible collection of gripping songs that freely and boldly explore the broad umbrella that is Americana. This record is overflowing with the heart and spirit of its musicians, most notably Kingsley himself who erupts at times with a bellow akin to legendary musician Levon Helm. Its Kingsleys voice and hand that make Good Way Home so compelling, so cathartic, and so unbelievably spectacular. Saying this is one of Richmonds finest Americana releases in its storied history is a bold proclamation, but dive only a minute into the first song of the record and youll know its true."
