31st Vivaldi by Candlelight: A Benefit Concert
The Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy (UCCD) presents the 31st Anniversary Vivaldi by Candlelight Benefit Concert, Saturday, December 7th, 2013, 8:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Salt Lake City. As Utah's only "all Baroque" concert it has long been a beloved fixture of the holiday season.
"La Stravaganza": The Year 1713 with Gerald Elias, Music Director and Violin Soloist
Be dazzled by the works of Vivaldi and Corelli! In 1713, precisely 300 years ago, a historical passing of the torch took place. In Rome, the great composer and violinist, Arcangelo Corelli died at the age of of sixty. In the same year in Venice, the young Antonio Vivaldi composed a collection of twelve violin concerti, his opus 4, which he called "La Stravaganza," for its daring expansion of tonality and technical virtuosity.
