Join us for an immersive, weekend-long workshop with the amazing Brad Krumholz of North American Cultural Laboratory!

Located in Highland Lake, NY, NACL (www.nacl.org) has been creating innovative, original ensemble theater for more than 15 years.

We had the tremendous pleasure of training with Brad four years ago in a workshop organized by Mondo Bizarro. We're thrilled to be welcoming him back and sharing that transformative experience once again with the New Orleans performance community.

DESCRIPTION

"Thinking of Home"

We carry our history with us. We are our history. We become our history. Home is our history, and history is where we wake up in the morning.

Our concept of "Home," whatever it may be, was planted in us first and most powerfully by our parents, and their concept by their parents, and so on. And try as we might, we cannot help but react in some way against our past, and in particular, against our parents. To varying degrees, we love them and we resent them. We care about their judgment and we spurn it. They are responsible to a great degree for who we've become, and, for the most part, we all must deal with their passing away from us.

From Friday afternoon through Sunday night, we will work together to create a tribute to Home, a sprawling performance environment that emerges from the points where our normally invisible lines of history intersect. We will use Faulkner's 'Thinking of Home: William Faulkner's Letters to His Mother and Father (1918-1925)' as our common inspiration; the ground upon which we will walk and into which we will dig.

In preparation for the workshop:
1. Memorize (at least) one letter from the collection. (The collection will be provided to all participants)
2. Bring one song to sing and share that recalls "home" or "parents."
