Geophysical methods, though not a substitute for boring or testing, can be a cost-effective and reliable means of imaging the subsurface between and beyond boreholes, and of determining in-situ properties of soil and rock. It is especially useful over large study areas and often used to complement a cost-effective, well-planned, drilling and testing program.
Geophysical Methods What, Where, and How to Use for Geotechnical Site Characterization and Analyses is a practical short course on how geophysical methods can be used to supplement conventional subsurface investigations.
