The Milkyboy Kid
Award-winning Irish choreographer Luke Murphy returns to NYC with "The Milkyboy Kid", a new one-man show on the chameleon nature of performers and performance and his own blurred lines of fiction and reality. "The Milkyboy Kid" brings the audience into the melancholy world of a lone performer: robbed of his company, his finances, his tricks and his tactics, he's giving it all he's got in an evening of figuring out what he's got to give.

Through a mixture of storytelling, film and Murphy's own virtuosic physicality "The Milkyboy Kid" examines relationships between who you are, who you want to be and who you pretend to be. Maybe "the body never lies" (Martha Graham) but then again "if you can fake sincerity, you've got it made" (Groucho Marx).  Maybe the fiction is all there is.

"Murphy's fierce, fine solo is full of that hapless schism between past and present and though there's humour in what he shows, there's an ache too, in being your own man.
**** (4 stars)"
- Mary Brennan; The Herald, Scotland Aug 26 2016 (for Your Own Man/Mad Notions)

"The Milkyboy Kid" is presented in partnership with FailSafe Festival. Supported by the Guest Artist program of The Performance Project @ University Settlement.
