Fantastic Mr. Fox
Opera Kansas will bring to life Roald Dahl's amazing story, Fantastic Mr. Fox. This charming opera composed by Tobias Picker, is a delightful romp through the farmyards of those nasty mean farmers, Boggis, Bunce and Bean. A full cast of animal friends assist the Fox family in their cunning endeavors, while Agnes the Digger and Mavis the Tractor are forced to work overtime to destroy the fox den at the demand of the farmers. A colorful array of local singers populate the cast lead by baritone Chy F. Billings, III in the title role. He is supported by Leah Heatcote as Mrs. Fox and the evil farmers are Steve Bixler, Dr. Matthew Schloneger and Dr. Charles Turley.
The Saturday evening performance at 7:00 PM will be held at the recently opened Advanced Learning Library in downtown Wichita. The collaborative partnership between Opera Kansas and the Library seeks to demonstrate aspects of the many uses of the new multi-million dollar building and how citizens can all benefit.
This opera is for all ages and runs just over an hour.
