AIAOC Lecture Series- Marmol Radziner: Why We Build
Leo Marmol, FAIA, of design-build firm Marmol Radziner will offer an insiders perspective on how design-build, and the growing acceptance of this practice, has shaped the firm. Leo will provide an overview of the firms services, as well as how their continued work in historic restoration informs their new architectural projects.

Attendees will learn:

-Attendees will learn about architects serving as the design and construction lead

-Attendees will learn about the complex restoration of mid century modern structures

-Attendees will learn about how ADA impacts restoration projects

-Attendees will learn about energy efficiency and sustainable products as they relate to restoration projects

Presenter:Leo Marmol, FAIA


Leo Marmol, FAIA, is the managing principal of the architect-led design-build firm Marmol Radziner, founded with Ron Radziner, FAIA, in 1989. Based in Los Angeles, with an office in San Francisco, the firm is known for its innovative approach that comprises architectural design and general contracting services, as well as landscape, interior, and furniture design. The firms portfolio includes single- and multi-family residential, retail, hospitality, workplace, and community projects.

Active in his profession, Leo lectures widely on the topics of architecture, restoration, and development. Leo has also organized and led numerous architectural tours in Southern California to highlight the wealth of mid-century Modernist landmarks in the region. Leo serves on the Board of Trustees of the Palm Springs Art Museum and the Board of Advisors of the UCLA Lab School.

Leo received his Bachelor of Architecture with a Minor in Philosophy from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California, in 1987. Leo was elevated to the College of the Fellows of the American Institute of Architects in 2007 and inducted into the Interior Design Hall of Fame in 2009.
