Cheating Death: Magic, Memoirs & Mortality
The stories and ideas in Cheating Death were born out of the sadness and grief that I experienced from 2009 to 2015. In that six year period my mother, father, grandmother, and grandfather all passed away. During that time I also got divorced and survived cancer. It was a rough few years to say the least. During those six years I cried and laughed more than I ever had before. This show is the result of all the laughter and tears. I pair true stories with complementary magic because I believe that one art form elevates the other. Written & performed by Nelson Lugo.
Presented as part of the 2018 Speak Up, Rise Up Storytelling Festival.
