Executive Panel: Living, Working, and the Social/Economic Impact of Operating in the Permian Basin
Abstract: The Permian Basins increase in activity encourage oil and gas professionals to closely observe this world class play. As what typically comes with the strong part of the cycle, many professionals recently moved to West Texas and many companies are now improving their presence in the Permian. This session covers how some companies that these panelists represent found significant value in developing the business and outreach in this Basin over many years. The panel will focus on identifying social responsibility and growth in operations efforts that others could also investigate to optimize their businesses in the Permian Basin.
Panelist Bio's:
Ken Beattie - Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President, CrownQuest Operating Mr. Beattie graduated from Montana Tech in 1992 with a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering. In 1993, he joined Meridian Oil, which later assumed the parent company name Burlington Resources (BR). From 1993 to 1999, he held various engineering roles at BR. From 2000 to 2006, he held leadership roles in Strategic Planning, Unconventional Resources, and Gulf Coast Engineering. After ConocoPhillips (COP) acquired BR in 2006, he spent a year with COP as Business Development Manager, Mid-Continent. He left COP to join CrownQuest in 2007, where he has served as Chief Operating Officer since 2010.
Steve Guthrie - Senior Vice President of Business Operations and Engineering, Concho Resources
Mr. Guthrie supervises Conchos corporate engineering. He joined Concho in 2004 and has served in several roles, including as Vice President of Texas, Texas Asset Manager, and as Engineering Manager. Prior to joining Concho, Steve was Business Development Manager at Moriah Resources. He also served in various engineering and operations capacities at Henry Petroleum and Exxon. Steve is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering.
Lance Robertson Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of Development, Endeavor Energy Resources
Mr. Robertson joined Endeavor as Chief Operating Officer, Senior Vice President of Development in January 2017. Mr. Robertson was formerly with Marathon Oil Company as Vice President for US Unconventional Resources with oversight of North America Unconventional Business Units, Technology Application, Land, Supply Chain and North America Exploration efforts. Prior to his role at Marathon Oil, Mr. Robertson served as Vice President for Engineering and Exploitation at Pioneer Natural Resources. Mr. Robertson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University and an MBA from Southern Methodist Universitys Executive MBA program.
Denzil West - Chief Executive Officer, Admiral Permian Resources Mr. Denzil R. West, P.E., serves as Chief Executive Officer of Admiral Permian Resources, LLC. Most recently, Mr. West served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Reliance Energy in Midland, Texas where he was instrumental in the strategy, leadership, development and successful monetization of the Reliance group of companies. Mr. West served as a Vice President of Asset Development at Reliance Energy, Inc. and was responsible for all aspects of the Reliance Energy's engineering and operations development of its oil and gas assets. He joined Reliance in 2006. He has over 35 years of oil and gas industry experience, most of which has been in the Permian Basin. He worked for several years at ARCO Oil & Gas Company as a Reservoir and Production Engineer with the responsibility for designing and implementing numerous exploration and development drilling projects, waterflood projects and C02 projects throughout the continental US. He has been a Director of Vesta Energy Corp. since May 2017. He serves as a Director of Admiral Permian Resources, LLC. Mr. West holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (Summa Cum Laude) from Texas A&M University in 1981.
